Emergency Eyewash, Shower Standard Now Available in Spanish ARLINGTON, Va. (Feb. 20, 2006) – The American National Standard for emergency eyewash and shower equipment is now available from the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) in a Spanish-language version. “ANSI Z358.1-2004 includes minimum performance, testing, installation, maintenance and training specifications for equipment and systems used for emergency treatment of the eyes or bodies of those who have been exposed to injurious materials,” said Janice Comer Bradley, technical director of the ISEA, which publishes the standard. ISEA member companies make emergency eyewash and shower equipment. The 27-page publication covers plumbed and self-contained showers and eyewashes, eye-face wash equipment, combination units, personal wash units and hand-held drench hoses. Nine illustrations amplify the text. “Emergency showers and eyewash equipment units are found in thousands of workplaces where Spanish is spoken and read, including manufacturing plants, construction sites, laboratories, hospitals, medical offices and numerous mobile work sites,” Ms. Bradley said. “It is critical that those responsible for installing and maintaining this equipment and training people to use it have the most current information – contained in this standard – in a language that is understandable.” Click here for more information on ANSI Z358.1-2004, including how to order the English or Spanish language versions.
