25 years from now...

  • What types of hazards will workers face?

  • How will they be protected?

  • What new protective equipment will your company be making?

  • What new technologies and materials will you use?

  • How will your company adapt its business and stay competitive?

Hear national experts address these issues and more at Protection2033, a national symposium on protecting workers in the next 25 years, the centerpiece of this year’s ISEA Fall Meeting.

The symposium, which is being co-sponsored by the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH), is a highlight of ISEA’s 75th anniversary celebration. Speakers include:

John Mahaffie, a nationally recognized futurist who specializes in workplace issues, including new technologies and practices that may change work and how we protect workers.
Dr. John Howard, director of NIOSH from 2002 through 2008, recognized as a visionary leader and innovator in the application of research to improve worker safety and health.
Dr. Richard Siegel, Robert W. Hunt Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and Director of the Nanotechnology Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The luncheon speaker is ISEA’s favorite political analyst, Newsweek Magazine senior Washington correspondent Howard Fineman.  Fineman’s new book, The Thirteen American Arguments, captures the essential ideas, issues and debates that shape our country in the 21st Century. He will sign books after his remarks; you can order a book on the registration form.

On Monday evening, ISEA will honor John T. Ryan III, Chairman of the Board of MSA, the 2008 recipient of the Robert B. Hurley Distinguished Service Award. The annual award recognizes individuals who have dedicated their professional lives to worker safety.

The ISEA general membership meeting will be held on Monday from 3-5 pm. Product group chairs will report on revisions of standards and standards projects underway. ISEA Chairman Bill Lambert of MSA will present the 2009 ISEA Strategic Plan, and members will vote on the association’s 2009 budget.

The Fall Meeting is November 10-12, 2008 at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, VA. The Protection2033 Symposium will be Tuesday, November 11.
