ISEA issues erratum for ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2009 standard on workplace first aid kits.

05/27/2011

ISEA has received several inquiries related to the required language on Figure 1 of ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2009.  It was the intent of the working group responsible for the development of the revision to NOT require that products be marked “ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2009.”  The reason behind this change from the 2003 edition and the development of the 2009 edition was that  there was much debate as to what exactly needed to be labeled (The individual item? Or the packaging containing the items if multiple items were included in a single package/box?)  and whether such practice added benefit to the end-user.  Such intent is documented in working group meeting minutes and early working drafts of the document.   Due to an editorial oversight, such language was not deleted from Figure 1 from the final draft copy and subsequent publication of ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2009.

ISEA is issuing an erratum to state that it is not the intent that products be marked “ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2009” and to revise Figure 1 to read:

ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2009 Type I, II, III or IV
Caution! This kit meets ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2009 only when the required minimum fill is maintained.
